Adding a new headboard to your bedroom is one of the easiest ways to update the room. Headboards are no longer only made from wood. You can find them in every material from wrought iron to leather to marble just to name a few. You have a large number of options to choose from but first things first. Quickly scan your bedroom and notice the theme you have going on now. Next you want to decide the theme youd like the room to become and think about what type headboard will help you bring that theme to life. For example do you have a shabby chic bedroom but youre looking for a headboard that will give it more of a classic traditional style? If so you may want to choose a headboard with a strong cherry wood finish. On the other hand if you have a traditional bedroom that youd like to move towards a more contemporary look you could choose an oversized padded leather headboard with clean lines. If you decide you want more of a custom feel for your headboard and youre feeling creative you can even get a do it yourself kit and create your own headboard. Theres really no limit to the type headboard you can add to your room.
Up until now most folks hadnt even heard of king headboards let alone seriously contemplated installing one in their own holiest-of-holys the main bedroom. But with the onset of the cooler months ahead the trend-setters have their gaze set firmly on this re-emergence of the one-time classic.
Brief history. A headboard is a classic piece of furniture whose enduring popularity is ensured due to its useful function durability and aesthetic value. Headboards have been made from wood for hundreds of years and wooden headboards remain very popular. Wood remains the most common material for making all furniture due to its natural properties which make it ideal for various kinds of treatment and techniques. Developments in craftsmanship and mechanical techniques during the past 200 years or so have made headboard production both more commercially viable and quicker. The range of contemporary wooden headboards is enormous and aesthetic design may be altered by the type and colour or shade of the wood as well as the shape of the headboard itself.
